Dear Comrades,

I am sending this letter a few days before I send my regular draft newsletter because these two events are taking place, which require each of us to look in our contact books and share.

Minnesota DFL Caucus / New York Petitioning

Minnesota needs as many Socialists to participate in the caucus on February 27, 2028, and in New York, we need as many Socialists to get nominated for party positions.

A party position is not an elected position! Many folks need clarification on the two roles.

The Minnesota Democratic Socialist Caucus created a series of videos to explain the process. Please share them with anyone you know in Minnesota.

Minnesota See Change Project

Our Minnesota comrades created the See Change Project to explain how caucusing works. Email mndsc@group.socialists.us, and we’ll help them navigate the process.

You can also check out their Twitter account at https://twitter.com/DSCMinnesota.

What to expect at the DFL party convention.

How do you get your issue on the party platform?

How to survive a walking subcaucus.

The New York Democratic County Committee

Contrary to Minnesota, the process in New York is different, and the nominations are taken by collecting signatures from New York Democrats.

On Wednesday, February 28, 2024, from 5:00 AM to 11 PM, we’ll have a table at the Times Square subway station to explain how to petition.

You should see a yellow Rep My Block table, a SDA table, and other movement tables. Look for the Rose in the Fist logo.

Other states

Events are also taking place in other states, but we are slowly documenting the process.

If you know comrades who actively participate or want to participate in their democratic parties, have them recognize our contribution to the Democratic Party coalition.

As you can see in this candidate presentation, this candidate recognized that the Democratic party is a huge tent and that we, as Socialists, are present.

We are here to document the process across the 50 states and Washington, D.C. We have done two and 49 to go.

We are participating in the Rep My Block and posting our findings on their wiki page: https://github.com/repmyblock/website/wiki/Example-of-Petitions.
