My draft SDA February newsletter
Dear Comrades,
This newsletter has been the hardest to write; something positive and negative happened every day.
The Socialist International Council in Madrid and the European Socialist Congress in Rome occurred last week.
I will only discuss those meetings to report that Benedicta Lasi was removed as Secretary General under what I would qualify as problematic.
The European Socialist Congress in Rome was to present the European Socialist Manifesto to the June European election. The European Socialist Manifesto gives us a base to work.
The other great accomplishment of the presentation of those two Manifestos is that it creates a clear break between those on the Left of Socialism and the Socialists.
DSA’s platform is a mirror copy of the European Left platform, and we are a mirror copy of the European Socialists and Democrat platform.

The goal is to create a movement where the voter recognizes our logo and associates it with our Socialist Platform. This will ultimately replace the need for all these individual organization endorsements and allow SDA candidates to spend more time talking to the voters than wasting time collecting stamps.
That is the reason SDA doesn’t endorse candidates. Only members in good standing can use the logo.
When voters vote for a Socialist candidate using our brand, they will not be deceived because they will stand on the platform they participated in writing.
Using the European Socialist and Democratic Manifesto, I created a copy by replacing the word “Europe” with “United States” or “America.”

I hope this document will serve as a base to create an American Socialist manifesto for the 2026 midterms, whose International components will be incorporated into the Socialist International, just like Mike Harrington did for the 1989 Stockholm Socialist International Congress.
